In-person Meet Up & Touch Rugby (Reading)

  • Reading Rugby Club, RG4 6ST Sonning United Kingdom (map)

Join us for Networking & Touch Rugby Experience!

Touch Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports globally with players of all ages, genders and abilities giving it a go during to its inclusive, engaging and fun nature.

Come down early to the networking session and give Touch Rugby a go! All you need is normal sports kit, a water bottle and footwear with a bit of grip - we also have spare boots if needed.

Local Coach and Touch World Cup silver medalist, Sammie Phillips, will be leading the session and cover everything you need to know to play a game of Touch Rugby.

The session will start with some fun games to get everyone warm, followed by a practice of the key skills needed for Touch Rugby - such as passing/catching a rugby ball, running evasively (dodging!), making touches and scoring tries! There will then be a brief explanation of the rules, followed by a game to finish!

For anyone who would like to participate but at a lower activity level, Mike Wickson will be leading a walking touch rugby session too. Mike is the godfather of this game, having written the original set of rules so you’ll be in good hands - and if you think walking touch rugby sounds too easy, it’s worth knowing most players cover 4km per hour’s session!

We will return to the clubhouse after both sessions for some light refreshments before the networking session and talks start.

With the Women’s Rugby World Cup taking place in England later this year and the inspirational Red Roses firmly on course for a victorious campaign, there’s never been a better time to pick up a rugby ball for the first time and give it a try!

Reading Rugby Club is a thriving and inclusive club with a variety of contact and non contact rugby activities for players of all ages, genders and abilities. Visit their website to find out more information about how to get involved: https://readingrugby.club/

The morning will start with an Optional touch rugby or walking touch rugby taster session from 10-11.30am, followed by teas/coffees and small buffet from 11:30-12:30pm with networking from 12.00-2pm.Try Touch Rugby
