sport england to support the game changers

In a summer that’s been short of live women’s sport, there’s some great news on the horizon. It’s been announced that Sport England, who run the This Girl Can campaign to help more women get active, will be supporting a new series of the highly acclaimed podcast The Game Changers. Now in its 5th series the podcast features trailblazing women in sport knocking down barriers and challenging the status quo for women and girls everywhere.

The new Sport England series launches on September 8th with a remarkable line-up that includes:

  • Eleanor Oldroyd – one of Britain’s most respected sports broadcasters

  • Dame Sarah Storey – The most successful female British Paralympian of all time

  • Alison Oliver – Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust

  • Ebony Rainford-Brent – Cricket World Cup winner and now much respected sports broadcaster

  • Katie Sadleir – Former Olympian, now General Manager of Women’s Rugby at World Rugby

  • Tracy Edwards MBE – Skipper of the first all-female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race

  • Judy Murray OBE – former international tennis player & coach to many champions including her sons Jamie & Andy

  • Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill – Olympic Champion and three times World Champion Heptathlete

In supporting The Game Changers, Sport England will be helping to take the stories of extraordinary women in sport to a huge new audience and in the process inspire women of all ages.

The Game Changers is hosted by Sue Anstiss MBE, a founding trustee of the Women’s Sport Trust charity and the founder of Fearless Women, a company with a powerful ambition to drive positive change for women’s sport. Game changing guests from the previous series including Dame Katherine Grainger, Denise Lewis OBE, Clare Balding OBE, Casey Stoney MBE, Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Chrissie Wellington OBE and Dame Sue Campbell.

Lisa O’Keefe, Insight Director at Sport England, said: “It’s hard not to be inspired when you listen to the life stories of these incredible women, many of whom have had to face massive challenges in their careers. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to support Sue’s work in creating more of these highly engaging podcasts which were recognised recently with a bronze in the British Podcast Awards.”
